Where do Americans think Covid-19 Originated?

Reality Check Insights just returned from the field with our Covid-19 Origins Survey.

As the debate about the origins of Covid-19 continues, Reality Check Insights interviewed more than 1,000 Americans to understand where the public believes the virus originated. 48% of Americans think that the virus originated in a laboratory, more than double the 22% of Americans who believe the virus emerged from an infected animal. Of the Americans who believe the lab origin theory, 56% think that it was intentionally released. This divided sentiment further raises the importance of President Biden’s call for a more thorough conclusion about the virus’s origins.
